Zack Ping Looks to Rebound This Weekend at the Sebring International Raceway

After a tough opening round to his USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires campaign, Zack Ping is ready to rebound this weekend at the Sebring International Raceway. Taking on his first street race, his first barrier-lined circuit, and his first USF2000 event at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Ping is returning to a facility that he has seen and driven before for rounds three and four in the 18-race championship battle.

“I am ready for a reset and a restart,” explained Ping. “St. Pete was not how I wanted to start the season off, but I am excited and anxious to get going at Sebring. We qualified well but it was difficult once the race action happened as I was caught up in some other people’s incidents. Testing at the Sebring facility in the past, at least I know what to expect. I think we will see a different Zack this weekend!”

With the highlight of St. Pete, a solid eighth-place qualifying effort, Ping was able to mix it up with some of the fastest USF2000 drivers in the country and put his VRD Racing machine in the top half of the field, one of four team cars in the top-ten.

It will be a quick two-day weekend as a single practice session will lead into qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel action this coming Saturday with a second qualifying session Sunday morning that will set the grid for Sunday’s round four.

Ping added, “The goal will be to qualify well and stay at the front of the field. Sebring is a difficult place to pass so qualifying will be key.”
